Case Studies

Four Businesses. Four Problems Solved.

Every business has different pallet needs. Here's how we've solved challenges across warehousing, manufacturing, mining, and export for Nevada and Western US companies.

🏢 Warehousing & Distribution

Nevada Distribution Center Cuts Pallet Costs by $40K/Year

Reno–Sparks Metro Area  |  300,000 sq ft facility

A mid-size Nevada distribution center was locked into a CHEP pallet rental program and paying premium rental, sorting, and retrieval fees on top of their core pallet costs. Every quarter, unexpected surcharges for lost or damaged pallets were eroding their logistics budget. With pallet costs running over $95,000 per year, leadership wanted a better model — but wasn't sure if switching away from a rental program was feasible at their volume.

Pallet Broker LLC worked with the DC's operations manager to conduct a full pallet audit — identifying actual usage volumes, turn rates, and grade requirements. We proposed a direct-ownership model: the company would purchase a baseline inventory of 800 Grade A used pallets (48×40 GMA standard) outright, supplemented by standing weekly delivery orders for replenishment. Our own fleet handled deliveries on a predictable schedule, eliminating third-party freight costs. Worn pallets were bought back through our recycling program, further offsetting costs.

$40K+ Annual savings vs. CHEP program
800 Pallets now owned outright
$0 Surprise rental surcharges

"Once we ran the numbers, the decision was obvious. We own our pallets now, we know exactly what we're spending, and Pallet Broker keeps us stocked every week without fail."

Manufacturing & EV

TRIC Supplier Gets Same-Day Heavy-Duty Pallets to Keep Production Running

Sparks / TRIC Corridor  |  Component supplier

A component supplier delivering parts to the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center (TRIC) ran into an urgent crisis: their regular pallet vendor couldn't fulfill a last-minute order for heavy-duty 48×40 pallets needed for an afternoon production run. With a tight delivery window to their manufacturing customer, a pallet shortage meant either delayed shipment or a rejected load — both unacceptable in a JIT supply chain. It was 8:30am when they called Pallet Broker LLC.

Because Pallet Broker LLC's Sparks facility is located just minutes from TRIC — with 250,000+ pallets in stock and AMS-automated sorting — we were able to pull, load, and dispatch a full order of heavy-duty, nail-grade new pallets within two hours of the call. Our own fleet driver delivered to the supplier's dock by 11:15am, giving them time to load their outbound trailer before their afternoon window. No third-party freight broker, no uncertainty — just a direct call and a fast solution.

"We had a production emergency and Pallet Broker solved it before lunch. They're now our primary pallet supplier — we don't call anyone else first."

Mining & Energy

Nevada Mining Operation Gets Custom-Built Pallets for Heavy Equipment Parts

Northern Nevada  |  Underground mining operation

A Northern Nevada mining company needed pallets for shipping and storing heavy equipment components — but standard 48×40 GMA pallets weren't suitable. The components were irregularly sized and extremely heavy (individual loads exceeding 3,000 lbs), requiring custom-dimension pallets with reinforced stringer construction and specific notch configurations for their forklift equipment. Their previous vendor didn't have custom build capability and lead times from out-of-state suppliers were running 3–4 weeks.

Pallet Broker LLC's Sparks manufacturing facility is equipped to build custom-dimension pallets to exact specification. After a brief consultation, our team produced engineered drawings for 48×48 double-face reinforced pallets with 4-way forklift entry and heavy-gauge 3-stringer construction rated for their load requirements. The first production run of 200 units was completed within 10 business days and delivered directly to their site by our own fleet. We now maintain a standing order with quarterly restocking.

"Nobody else in Nevada could build to our spec on that timeline. Pallet Broker built exactly what we needed and had it on site in under two weeks."

Export & International

Bay Area Exporter Receives ISPM-15 Certified Pallets in 48 Hours

Sacramento / Bay Area corridor  |  International freight forwarder

A Bay Area freight forwarder managing an international shipment discovered — with less than 72 hours to their vessel cutoff — that their pallet supplier could not certify ISPM-15 heat-treatment compliance for their export load. International customs regulations mandate ISPM-15 certification on all wood packaging entering most countries; non-compliant pallets at port of entry result in rejected shipments, fumigation costs, and severe delays. The forwarder needed certified pallets fast, and their usual California suppliers were backed up.

Pallet Broker LLC maintains ISPM-15 certified, heat-treated export pallets in stock at our Sparks facility. After a same-day call, we confirmed pallet availability, pricing, and documentation. Our driver loaded and departed the following morning, delivering a full pallet order with accompanying ISPM-15 phytosanitary documentation to the Sacramento staging area within 48 hours of the initial call — giving the forwarder enough time to load and make their vessel cutoff. All paperwork was provided digitally and in hard copy.

100% ISPM-15 compliant
$0 Customs penalties incurred

"We were in a real bind. Pallet Broker LLC came through with certified pallets and all the documentation in under two days. Shipment made the vessel. That's the kind of supplier you keep on speed dial."

The above case studies are representative examples based on the types of challenges and outcomes our customers commonly experience. Specific company names have been omitted to protect customer privacy. Results vary based on pallet type, volume, location, and market conditions.
