Calculating your pallet requirements starts with understanding three things: your inventory volume, your inventory turnover rate, and your pallet reuse rate.

For Warehouses and Distribution Centers

• Count your current storage positions (rack locations + floor stack positions)
• Add 15-20% for receiving and staging areas
• Add 10% buffer for damaged, repair queue, and transport pallets

For Manufacturing Operations

• Calculate pallets consumed per production run
• Multiply by average production days per week
• Add inbound materials pallets (often overlooked)
• Build 2-week buffer stock minimum
